LONDON - Britain will ban the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars from 2035, five years earlier than planned, in an attempt to reduce air pollution that could herald the end of over a century of reliance on the internal combustion engine.

Johnson will launch COP26, a two-week conference seen as a moment of truth for the 2015 Paris Agreement to combat global warming, at an event alongside Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough. Britain’s step amounts to a victory for electric cars that if copied globally could hit the wealth of oil producers, as well as transform the car industry and one of the icons of 20th Century capitalism: the automobile itself.

The government said that, subject to consultation, it planned to bring forward an end to the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans to 2035, or earlier if a faster transition was possible. It also said it would include hybrids.

What about diesel?

Meanwhile, in the real world outside the GreenTard Bubble of Delusional Nonsense . . .

What happens to lithium batteries once spent? Can they be recycled or will they be dumped and those chemicals will end up contaminating even more? The electric car is not as clean as it seems.

Move that up by five years and remove them in order of dirtiest first.

I imagine there will be a few elections between now and then. Plans may change.

funny... not realistic

HHichilema don't you think this is a perfect chance to start negotiations with them? We have the capacity to become the electrical regional hub down here. Renewable energy sources are vast here its just a matter of policy making and investment. Another market for our COPPER

I knew that will eventually happen. Only a matter of time. A huge amount of: copper nickel graphite lithium needed!! Can imagine how much copper needed for all this charging points? That is without talking about the cars themselves. Investment: ARCM ARS ACP HZM

Looks like the 2nd hand car market will be a lucrative investment.

...in 15 years? Better super late than never, i guess.

Infrastructure first. Incentives for chargers on new buildings, city centre buildings and car parks. Otherwise the 2nd hand market in 2034 will be very lucrative

It’s about time horses and mules made a comeback.
