In Washington, the No. 2 U.S. potato growing state after Idaho, a billion pounds of russet potatoes, normally processed into french fries and hash browns, are sitting in warehouses that would typically be emptying ahead of the July harvest, the Washington State Potato Commision said. “Everyone in Washington would have to eat about 500 pounds of potatoes from now until the 4th of July to clear out that pipeline,” said Brandy Tucker, the commission’s director of marketing.
The commission is planning more than a dozen donation events by the end of May. But even giving away potatoes comes with the cost of washing, bagging and shipping.

There must be some government money changing hands with potatoes, because they’re practically free at the grocery.
Why not send the potato and milk to be powdered so it can be stored for a couple of years and used in emergencies? Instant mash can be made by just adding hot water its perfect for disaster relief supplies.

What a great idea!!! Very nutritious & if stored properly can last a good while, or can be made into foods that freeze really well. Chips / Fries...roast potatoes, soups, gnocchi, Irish boxty, rosti, hash browns, there's an endless amount of options.

PLEASE LET US USE OUR IMAGINATION Curd milk is good to make cheese.., make ice cream with the milk before it goes bad. The potatoes can be boiled, mashed, makebpotato salad, potato chips, etc. placed in freezer before they rot.
