B.C. has been under a state of emergency since March 18 due to the coronavirus pandemic. VICTORIA -- Premier John Horgan is reminding British Columbians to remain respectful, calm and kind to those driving vehicles with licence plates that show they are from out-of-province or from the United States.
Horgan says it's important not to jump to conclusions, but he also says people who are driving vehicles with out-of-province plates should be prepared.Horgan's comments come as some people report feeling unwelcome or unsafe in B.C. because of the response from locals concerned about the spread of COVID-19.

This is not a good response by BC premier...recently in Jasper and Banff - tons of BC licence plates - be nice, we are all Canadian! AB welcomes Canadian visitor including BC residents!

What an asinine approach to the problem by the premier. There are many people who live in BC but work in Alberta with Alberta plates as many of them are company vehicles. This article just adds fuel to the fire and pretty much says that people have a right to harass others.

I live in a border city, provincial and American. We have people, not local, who are working, looking after parents or returning from school. Some are even US Army personnel billeted at an army base. Plates are not a good indicator of anything other than where the car is from. 🙄

That can go both ways. I see tons of BC plates here on highway 63 on my way to fort mcmurray. But I dont harass them like a Karen because they are trying to make a living.

I wrote to B.C. Tourism and got a very pleasant reply saying that ...As they are in Phase 3 they welcome all. Canadians ( of course respectful of Covid regulations/guidelines).
