Dozens of vehicles with people inside are caught in dangerous situations, stuck in deep mud in the middle of these roads in the remote Baram district, said Baram Peoples Action Committee chairman, Philip Jau.
Jau said his committee members have received alerts from at least five different locations in Baram district about the deteriorating road conditions. "There are many stretches of roads that have become rivers of mud due to intense downpours and subsequent soil erosion."The latest information I received is that the worst-hit areas are the Long Panai link road and Marudi-Tutoh trunk road," he said.
Jau said it was very dangerous to be caught on these mud-filled roads, especially should a flash flood occur.Jau called on the relevant authorities to help these stranded commuters immediatgely. His committee has alerted its ground contacts in the various locations to get villagers in the vicinity of the Long Panai and Marudi-Tutoh area to help those stranded and to monitor the situation.Article type: metered
