Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Arsad Kamaruddin identified the victims as S. Esaias, 44, of Sungai Lalang, Bedong, Kedah, and Asmawi Abdullah, 46, of Parit Sungai Abdullah, Bagan Serai, Perak.
He said Esaias and Asmawi, who were at the wheel of a trailer, which was laden with iron rods, and a trailer laden with steel cupboards, respectively, died at the scene in the 5am crash. "The trailer with Esaias at the wheel was heading from Batu Kurau, Perak, to Kuala Lumpur, when it grazed Asmawi’s trailer, which was on the emergency lane, causing both vehicles to veer and plunge into a ravine.
"Both of them sustained head and body injuries and were pronounced dead by paramedics from the Sungai Buloh Hospital, ” he told reporters here Saturday.Article type: metered
