Luxury car group Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) unveiled plans to go electric on Monday, saying it aims to be net zero on carbon emissions by 2039 as it joined a global race to roll out clean-energy vehicles.

The Tata Motors-owned group’s strategy - internally referred to as “Reimagine” - comes as car groups worldwide accelerate moves towards fleets powered by electric and other green technologies.

Land Rover will add six pure electric variants in the next five years and future Jaguar models will be built exclusively on a pure electric architecture, JLR said, adding, that the first all-electric variant of Land Rover will debut in 2024.Last month, General Motors Co said it aimed for all new cars, SUVs and light pickup trucks to have zero-tailpipe emissions by 2035, a dramatic shift by the largest U.S. automaker away from gasoline and diesel engines.

By 2030, it is anticipated that 100% of Jaguar cars, and 60% of Land Rovers, will be equipped with zero-tailpipe powertrains, JLR said.Reporting by Chandini Monnappa in Bengaluru, Editing by Sherry Jacob-Phillips and Patrick Graham

LandRover LandRover_UK LandRoverZA LandRoverUKPR You'll be long bankrupt before 2039 comes if don't go 100% EV

That’ll be handing more market share to Toyota then in remote regions such as Africa, South America, UAE, Outback Australia and anywhere else electric vehicles are absolutely useless

How do you get headlines so wrong?

God speed, if you make it that far

Every other article I'm seeing in my feed says 2025, why are you reporting 2039?

Tooooo late

That's fine because the people who can afford to buy one of these will have the home that can accommodate charging them. I am sure all the people living in flats with no allocated parking spaces don't feel left out at all.

And to do so they will use IOTA

UK ban on fossil-fuelled cars from 2030. JLR not expecting to sell them here then?

Go woke, go broke...

Shocking news

You have got this wrong Reuters. The first all-electric variant will arrive in 2024. Jaguar and Land Rover will offer pure electric power, nameplate by nameplate, by 2030. JLR's aim is to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039.

So bankruptcy then? Good

2039? 😂😂😂😂

Liars... they'll be very late to the party but the more the merrier 😃
