- Jaguar Land Rover’s car range will be fully electric by 2030 as the carmaker joins a global race to develop zero-emission models to get ahead of looming bans on sales of new fossil-fuel vehicles.

JLR, owned by India’s Tata Motors, said on Monday the Jaguar brand will lead the way with a fully electric model range built on a brand-new electric platform by 2025. Land Rover will launch six pure electric models in the next five years with the first one coming in 2024, JLR said. But Thierry Bollore, who took over as chief executive in September, said the carmaker’s Castle Bromwich plant in central England would focus on “non-production” activities in the long term. He provided few details.

JLR said it will spend around 2.5 billion pounds annually on electrification technologies and development of connected vehicle services.JLR said it was also investing in developing hydrogen fuel cells in anticipation of a future shift to hydrogen to power vehicles. The carmaker said it will have prototypes using hydrogen fuel cells on Britain’s roads within the next year as part of a long-range investment plan.

That’s great, but you’ll still have to lock up your valuables when a Jag owner visits your home, right JeremyClarkson? Fully electric does not mean fully reliable. I mean, they’re still Jags, 😂 GrandTour grandtournews

so many comments here of people still skeptical of the massive electric paradigm unfolding. hint: we live near a giant star freely providing us each day with more energy than we could ever use in a lifetime. open your mind.

What software company are they gonna use? Which battery company? Battery/cell integration? 60 ton injection press? Haha. No Terrafactories, no Supercharging Network, no software updates. Guaranteed less range than a Tesla. Jaguar will become just a trim on a TATA BEV platform.

F-Type values about to go ⬆️. I love my EV but the sound of a F-Type V8 😘

Why? Does literally no one realize that batteries are made often in China and that we then have to rely on a diff energy source to charge these batteries? Rural areas will def be hard to find charging stations. Stupid.

Cue all the science and progress deniers. I’m sure there was skepticism when they strung the first power line in 1889, too. But it’s called progress and it’s inevitable.

Will they be more reliable? Jags have a long history of electrical problems....

👎👎👎

Jaguar has been all electric for years. It takes a jump to start them.

What a Joke
