NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the five trucks and other vehicles will be providing free rides in Metro Manila during the entire duration of the ECQ implementation which was extended by President Duterte until April 11.
“We have assigned routes for our vehicles and were instructed to help authorized persons outside residence who were greatly affected by the limited public transportation,” said Danao. From March 31, 2021, NCRPO has dispatched a total of 818 patrol cars and trucks all over Metro Manila with a total of 1,771 trips to accommodate the needs of the essential workers. Thousands of commuters were served by the free rides of the NCRPO since then.
Aside from free rides, Danao said they are also providing free mineral water, face masks, and face shields to the commuters. Danao said he also ordered the deployment of thousands of policemen in the streets of Metro Manila to strictly implement the minimum health safety protocols.
Super spreader free rides, a soft ECQ will not stop covid surge.
