The cars were purchased in the Ipswich and Redlands area about a week before the hit in Pimpama on October 12, when Bowden was shot 21 times by two gunmen.
Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told media on Sunday that the silver Holden Commodore and maroon Ford Falcon were bought by associates of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle club.“We’re not saying that these people are gang members but they’re clearly associates of that gang and operating under their direction and control,” he said.Superintendent Smith has called for anyone who saw the vehicles being driven around prior to the “vicious” shooting to come forward.
Superintendent Smith said police believed two gunmen carried out the hit but there was a “large group” of people who planned and facilitated the murder.The Party Games newsletter
