A 74-year-old man who collided with two parked cars while riding an e-scooter has died.
Greater Manchester Police said he was travelling down Springfield Road, Tameside, when he crashed at about 13:40 GMT on Saturday.Sgt Marie Eldred, from GMP, said: "Our thoughts remain with the man's family as they come to terms with this incredibly tragic loss."

There seems no big issue in European cities that have them. Why here! That’s because in this country more Feckin idiots. When in Paris I commute on them and the Geotag and app restricts speed to 6mph in 700 area’s within paris. Tourist are the only issue we have with them there.

When are going people understand these machines are inherently dangerous by design. The rider does not stand a chance if something goes wrong and they are not aware of the risks involved. They are unstable, unsafe & unroadworthy. They need to be off the streets.

You can guarantee if the the rider was 24 not 74 they'd not blame the scooter. Everytime I go town there's an old person thinking their quicker than oncoming traffic.

They need proper e scooter licensing and rider tests (highway code etc and practical) and e scooter meet x standards (inc lights / indicators / disk brakes / number plate etc) - seems simple enough and insurance of course as a requirement.
They were everywhere in Paris. Anyone could jump on jump off and use them in heavy Paris traffic. It was nuts 😳

Sorry for this tragical lost. We have to realize that there's no enough rules using e-scooter on the way. It could be unsafely while no licanse. Need some experience before beginning drive on the road. Moreover, Elder people, may not have driving ability because of their age.

Yeah honestly not surprised. I busted up my knee and ribs in two separate accidents within two months of getting mine. They're slowly being legalised but need some more regulation, especially the amount of modified ones I've seen that go faster.
