Police say woman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected when she crossed into...

A woman was killed March 12 when police say she veered from the eastbound lanes of West Little York into westbound traffic. Her SUV hit another smaller SUV head-on, leading to her ejection because she was not wearing a seat belt.A woman who was not wearing a seatbelt and possibly speeding crossed into oncoming traffic and head-on into a small SUV, police said, leading to her ejection and death.

The collision, around 10:15 p.m. Saturday in the 19300 block of West Little York Road, involved three vehicles and also injured at least one more person, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Three others were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Officers said speed might have played a role, but were still investigating why the driver of a black Range Rover traveling eastbound drifted across the median into westbound traffic. The SUV plowed head-on into an oncoming Honda HRV, which caused the Range Rover to flip onto its roof. The driver, who was not restrained, was thrown from the Range Rover.

As a result of the collision, a Toyota Camry with three people inside crashed into the Honda. The driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital in the Texas Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Occupants of the Camry, including two children, were taken to a Katy hospital as a precaution. The impact to the Range Rover caused it to catch fire, which spread to the other vehicles, sheriff's office officials said.
