Defence Minister Peter Dutton says his department is researching how to get armoured vehicles to Ukraine, after a public plea from the nation’s wartime President.Volodymyr Zelenskyy used a speech to the parliament to request BushmastersVolodymyr Zelenskyywhile speaking to Australia’s parliament via video link on Thursday, saying those “fighting against evil” must be armed.
"We are very, very much open to the request and I think of the inspiration that President Zelenskyy has provided to his own people and the world – he has brought Europe together in a way that was not possible before the war — we want to whatever we can to help bring this war to an end," Mr Dutton said on Friday morning.
Speaking via a translator, Mr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needed weapons as well as sanctions against Russia and its supporters."For example you have very good armoured personnel vehicles, Bushmasters, that could help Ukraine substantially, and other pieces of equipment that could strengthen our position in terms of armament.The Bushmaster is used as a troop carrier, patrol vehicle, weapons deployment platform and ambulance.
The Bushmaster is an Australian-built troop carrier that has been globally lauded for protecting soldiers' safety."We are doing logistical work on how we would get the Bushmasters there in the numbers they would need," Mr Dutton said. "Even on one of the huge planes you can probably only put three, maybe four, so we are just seeing what else is available in Europe."Watch

The Dutch have about 90, and the UK have about 24. Transfer them from there, and make up the transfers from Australia when convenient.

Answer is already there. Three on a plane and make 10 trips. I don’t know of any other war going on where Australia is supplying vehicles so capabilities are sitting idle? Will 30 Bushmasters help, better than zero.
