VICTORIA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau touted the benefits of the latest federal budget on Monday, highlighting spending on infrastructure for electric vehicles during a visit to Victoria.Last week's federal budget placed an emphasis on transitioning to the green economy, which includes expanding the availability of zero-emission vehicles and charging stations.
"The other part of it is moving forward on the most ambitious and concrete emissions reduction plan this country has ever seen," said Trudeau. The new national emissions reduction plan set a target of one in five new cars that are sold being zero emission by 2026. By 2030, the target is 60 per cent. That is up from the 50 per cent goal set by the Liberals less than a year ago.International Development Minister Harjit Sajjan was scheduled to be in Kelowna, B.C.
Federal Fisheries Minister Joyce Murray was scheduled to be in Richmond, B.C., for an infrastructure announcement. Trudeau's tour also included meetings scheduled with Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps and the City of Victoria Youth Advisory Council.
and there it is.. A spokeswoman for a Canadian clean energy think tank said five per cent of Canada's vehicle sales are already electric models, with B.C. at 13 per cent.
Small personal electric vehicles like escooters and ebikes can be made fast enough to serve enough people that we could make serious emissions cuts if people used them instead of cars and trucks. The big gains come from electrifying public transportation, however.
Build a new pipeline. Approve another offshore drilling project. That should do the trick!

Foolishness, Electric cars are going to do absolutely nothing for the environment. A chainsaw, weedeater, lawnmower, generator, cow, fruits and vegetables are worse than a driveway full of cars!
I you give me an electric vehicle I will give it a try. My current gas vehicle meets my needs and I'm not in a position to by an electric vehicle because you want me to. Oh ya how about those new interest rates.
