is facing a dilemma: Fire engines and other emergency vehicles can’t always access alleyways in the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Fenwick Drive, meaning any fires that start in the area could have potentially catastrophic consequences.
“There is a potential for that,” Assistant Fire Chief Robert Weidenbach said. “If cars are parked there, it could prohibit or delay our response.” Weidenbach, who has been with the department for more than 25 years, recently outlined the central issue in a presentation to Mayor Dan Reese and the City Council.
Residents often park on the side of the alleyway, according to Weidenbach. However, the alleyways are so narrow the cars take up a significant amount of space.“If there’s other cars parked there, it makes it difficult for us to pass by or pass through,” Weidenbach said.LATEST SPORTS NEWS
