Early trial data suggests the city could accommodate tens of thousands of rental e-scooters.
Neuron co-founder and chief executive Zachary Wang said the take-up of e-scooters in Melbourne had been faster than in any other city the company operated in around the world. Peters said Lime would expect to see continued high use of e-scooters, with Melbourne able to accommodate more than 5000 of the vehicles.
South Yarra’s John Helmer leads a group of residents who petitioned for cameras and traffic-measuring devices to record the number of scooters being ridden illegally on the footpath on Anderson Street, alongside the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Someone left one of these damn Neuron scooters ON PUNT ROAD lying down in the dark and I couldn’t see it and it flipped under my wheel and slammed into my door - denting and scraping it. They are a disaster and just be banned. There is no accountability for them 😟 abcmelbourne
They are lying around everywhere. Is this the system that was paid for ?
If you need a scooter, there are plenty lying around the streets of Ballarat👌
NO🤯. They are already littering the bike and footpath of Melbourne. Going to injure myself try to kick them off the paths may 30km/h
Do we have enough footpath space for tens of thousand of electric scooters?
Just pushing motorists onto expensive Labor Tollways as the gay greens controlled CBD close up the city..........Getting scewed under Labor policies.
Thought it was illegal to ride them.
How about they purchase appropriate storage/parking locations so they aren’t all strewn across the sidewalk?
That's amazing! ...and do they simply biodegrade when the model becomes outdated? Are they built in a factory running entirely from moonbeams and refracted rainbows?
First time in a while in Melb for the F1 Grand Prix and couldn't believe the number of these everywhere. Hopefully their popularity isn't equalled by their abuse.
They have to be managed properly otherwise their fate will be like those yellow bikes!
Nooooo. By the way, customers aren't even wearing the helmets.
I’ve had already had a couple of close encounters with these blasted contraptions. It’s a miracle that nobody has been seriously injured or killed yet.
Block my way on a footpath and I will remove the obstruction so it will never block anyone’s path again .
These bloody things are the scourge of the bike paths and pedestrian areas, it's great fun till people get hurt !
Half of them in the yarra
The next cyclist/whatever trying to run me down on the footpath will get smashed... 🫥
Noice.
More garbage on the streets
