Rising prices for battery-powered vehicles as global inflation hits the automobile industry will not deter Australians from ditching combustion engines, electric carmaker Polestar has forecast.

While the cost of fuel was encouraging more interest in EVs, people also “really want to be environmental,” Ms Johnson said. Still, the company would liketo apply to all EVs in Australia, not just those costing less than the luxury car threshold of $79,659, as well as more incentives from governments such as getting access to bus lanes or paying cheaper fares on toll roads.

Mike Whittington, the Gothenburg-based head of Polestar’s global sales, said the company was still feeling the impact of congested supply chains as well as labour and semiconductor shortages, and expected disruption to occur for the rest of the year.
