Police said the death happened about 10:33 p.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of the 6200 block of Bancroft Avenue.
Police said witnesses told officers that the woman had laid down in the roadway before she was hit by several vehicles, unknown makes and models, that failed to stop.Why the woman laid down in the roadway is under investigation. Police are also trying to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the identities of any of the drivers that fled.
