KUALA LUMPUR: Police have busted a gang of thieves who mainly targeted Proton cars and used a modified hexagonal (allen) key to start the engines.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the Remy Sentosa four-member gang had been active in the Klang Valley, particularly in Sentul.

He said police launched Ops Lejang and conducted several raids in Selangor and Perak between June 4 and 8.“Following the arrest, we located eight cars that were reported stolen,” he told a press conference here on Monday . ACP Beh said the stolen cars were sold for between RM2,000 and RM5,000 each and added that 13 cases had been solved following the arrests.

He said to steal a car, the gang would identify the target and send one of their members, a mechanic, to unlock the vehicle.ACP Beh said the suspects had been handed over to Ampang police for further action.
