Ban Hong cited as an instance the Swedish-based Volvo Car Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which has invested in assembling EVs.They are Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia , Iljin Materials Co and SK Nexilis, which produces electrodeposited copper foil for EVs. “On the investment of Tesla, if a private company chooses to invest in Malaysia or in other destinations, it is a commercial decision for which I do not have the capacity to answer,” Ban Hong said.
This includes the setting up of the National EV Task Force to strengthen the ecosystem of the sector, tax incentives for producers and users as well as non-fiscal support for companies intending to venture into the development of critical components.
