The nondisabled person can often easily make adjustments, looking around for an easier route, or putting away the distracting phone. People with disabilities have fewer options. Our paths are frequently strewn with obstacles, and I sometimes feel like I’m in a video game as I dodge protruding bicycles, untidy cafe furniture and illegally parked cars.
But if you do leave your car in my way, at least don’t lock the doors – if I can’t easily go over or around it, I might very well go through it!
