Cameras will enforce the new bus gate, which only allows buses and other approved vehicles to travel through. Bus gates have also been installed in Piccadilly Gardens and Oxford Road to improve journey times for passengers.
The council has not yet set a date for when the bus gate will become operational. However, it has promised commuters that more information will be coming in the next few weeks.A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: "As part of the Council's ambition to make it easier for people to access and use public transport in the city centre a bus lane camera has been installed in Bridge Street.

I lived in Manchester for 22 years, the last 4 as a delivery driver. I used to hate it when I got a local run because it was such a ball ache trying to get round! Road works, building works closing roads, pointless cycle lanes! This is just going to make it worse! Glad I left!!
