PETALING JAYA: The upcoming Technology Test Track (MT3) by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) in Sepang is expected to spur various tests for active and passive safety systems on vehicles in the country and South-East Asian region.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the 1-km long development is hoped to attract private parties and other agencies to work with Miros to ensure vehicles produced meet specified specifications and safety standards.

"For example, for the Vehicle Type Approval Process and evaluation of vehicles that follow Malaysian standards and the United Nations regulations at the international level. "The Malaysian Transport Ministry will always support the efforts and commitment of Miros in ensuring that the efforts that lead to this significant progress can be continued and implemented as planned," said Dr Wee in a Facebook post.
