However, as that research shows, more than half have nonetheless considered purchasing an electric vehicle. And 79% say proven reliability in Canadian climates would make them more likely to think about buying an electric vehicle.Article content

I love my Tesla, and the infrastructure is there for me to drive from coast to coast. I still have an F150 because sometimes I need a truck, but I have only filled it twice since January. My Tesla is more than adequate for 95% of my driving

They are not zero omission cars first the cost to manufacturer is just as costly as a regular car lithium needs to be mined and disposed of. The electricity to charge is generated through fossil fuels it is just using the same old things differently

I believe David Suzuki drove across Canada in an EV, but was disappointed at the restrictions to the route he had to take. Believe not much room for detours due to infra restrictions

Duh! Well not sh*t Sherlock!

Governor of California says no more gas-powered vehicles after 2035,then asks Californians to shut off AC because they can't furnish enough electricity during the heatwave...Bwahahahahahahahaaaaa......

How long did it take to build the railway and how many people died. And now they want us to cross the country with charging stations hooked up to an unreliable and NON PORTABLE energy source. Quit frankly it’s a national security risk and it puts the freedom of Canadians at risk!

Toronto to Winnipeg no problem. Toronto to key west Florida no problem.

And you have most of the voting seats cool cool. When there are Canadians who don’t live in cities and drive an hour to work in a mine or sawmill at below -20 paying taxes this is the view of Canadian elites. So very nice.

Look at the price of electricity in Europe right now. ICE vehicles are cheaper

Some?

A lot of Canadians see Toronto Sun and Post Media as unfit to be considered a news source.

Electric cars are a hoax and they will never replace the gas engine it’s all a agenda

I travel provincially by vehicle. I’ve no time to stop for 8 hrs to charge. Nvm running out of power in the middle of the mountain passes, one lane each direction in the middle of winter.I can only imagine what happens in an accident on the pass, waiting in winter if freeze to☠️!

No $hit... considering the new $100k Ford Lightning gets a whopping 90 miles on one charge pulling a light load, yeah I'd say that's an accurate assessment. Imagine using that junk in Northern Ontario, in -40c weather! I'll stick to my regular pick-up!

Friend got a quote for $27000 to replace the fried battery, can you imagine!

Some poor guy was stuck on the Bluewater bridge this weekend, with a dead Tesla😂

Obviously

This is why I suggested never buying electric or hybrid

The Scandinavians apparently use eCars as town runabouts. Serious driving they use their petrol fueled car

Well no shit Sherlock

This is Canada not England. You couldn't drive an EV from Toronto to Ottawa let alone any real distance to Northern ON or through the praries. Folks supporting this have never left the city they were born in to know most of Canada is not urban & is spread far apart and it shows

'Some' is nicely vague and hard to disprove lol

Remember when Trudeau used UN Goons to beat up innocent Canadians in Ottawa

They are and for cold climates

I travel 1400km 1 way to work, don't think they will hold a charge that long

Junk.

Unfit period.

Duh!

Hello captain obvious

You think?

They also contribute more emissions. Nothing even remotely green about them.

Urban driving only as regenerative braking helps extend battery in start stop conditions…long highway driving uses more battery as brakes generally are used less .. winter highway good luck !

Absolutely the rediculus thing is electric vehicles in Canada.

This is the best in long range

Those Canadians have critical thinking

It would take me 2x's longer to go home and see my family in an EV.. I have no interest in buying one..

Long commutes are literally the best use case for electric vehicles. Public transit would still be better though.

And they are right 🤣

Just bring a generator.

Most have a 400km or so limit.......UNFIT is accurate.......

The only viable option for Cdns is the regular hybrid vehicle. Pure EVs are only useful to putt putt around town.

The CCPVirus is the Origin of High Inflation

3.6 liters for 100km. 2006 VW jetta diesel.

Must be a fringe minority with unacceptable and mysogynistic views. But, there's a tax to fix that also.

They are not suitable in use where there is any salt from the winters the corrode copper windings and connections and they are not to be used near oceans that have salt in the air terrible for electric cars they have zero logical application total garbage

Some Canadians see electric cars as unfit for heterosexual people

A state the obvious headline.

Hahahaha better save up for that P100

Have we tried high speed passenger rail?

No kidding.

Some Canadians doubt the grid can handle every house charging its car…

The usefulness of EV is car transfer can be assessed & mileage can be dealt. Further technology like remote grade is needed where the car will not suffocate. ChinaDaily

They are perfect for commutes between home and work, which is what the majority of vehicle usage is.

Well use capitalism to fix the problem

I wouldn’t want to drive from Hearst to Thunder Bay in the winter with one of those that’s for sure.

They are unfit for long trips. Unfit for the power grid. Cobalt mining has been linked to child labour. Nobody is even thinking about battery disposal and the future environmental disaster that we will have on our hands.

Only those with any common sense see EVs as unfit for Canada.

Make Canada smaller….😂

Word count for: Winter: 0

That's fine. EVs are better in most scenarios. The tiny minority of people who need to drive 700km in -30°C can keep their ICE.

I'm some canadians. Canada is huge, spread out and has very limited mass transit options. Of course long commutes are an issue. Geez

geniuses just figured that out ? ... any 'experts' involved in reaching this brilliant epiphany ?

And short commutes....

That's because 'some' Canadians still have a functioning brain.

⚡⚡⚡Shocking.
