Anchorage police say a person was walking on the bike path along the Glenn Highway, near Boniface Parkway, Tuesday evening and was shooting at cars that were driving by.that they received multiple calls about the shooter shortly before 6:30 p.m.
“An officer that was responding to the call had their vehicle shot by the suspect,” the statement said. “The officer was not injured. At the same time, another vehicle that was driving on the Glenn was shot at. One passenger in that vehicle received a gunshot wound to the upper body.”By 8:50 p.m., policeFew additional details were available Tuesday night. Police did not release a description of the suspect.
“The motive for the shooting, and any relationship between the parties involved, is under investigation,” said the police statement. Police had not closed the highway, but urged people to avoid the area if possible during their investigation. Police asked anyone with information on the shooting — or anyone with injuries or damage to a vehicle from the gunfire — to call dispatch at 311 or 907-786-8900 .
