After post-tropical storm Fiona swept through the province on Saturday, Sept. 24, beachgoers in Miminegash have discovered at least two cars buried in the dirt that were unearthed during the storm. – Photo by Karrie CostainMIMINEGASH, P.E.I. — In the aftermath of post-tropical storm Fiona, which brought destruction and erosion to the coastlines of P.E.I., a mystery has been uncovered in the western portion of the province: specifically, two old cars buried at a Miminegash beach.
Curious, she and her son went out on Sept. 27, to see the damage the storm had caused to the beach and to check out the partially-buried vehicles in person. “One of them is in rough shape,” said Chaisson. “But the green one is pretty neat, you can see all the front of it.” The predominant theory among the comments, though, is that the cars had been buried to use as septic tanks for cottages in the area.In Malpeque Bay, meanwhile, Summerside resident Patti Arsenault saw the biggest haul of beach litter she had ever seen.Summerside resident Patti Arsenault has walked along the shore her sister's cottage in Malpeque Bay countless times before.
