By the time it reached Santa Fe Springs on southbound Interstate 5, its bumper was dragging and smoke was coming from the rear of the car. At Buena Park, around 8:15, it made a quick jaunt on surface streets and got on westbound Highway 91, the Artesia Freeway
Debris was falling off the damaged car, its right front tire was shredded and sparks were flying from the rim. Finally, near the Downey Avenue interchange in north Long Beach, the fishtailing car hit the back of a big rig and came to a stop. Two occupants got out and ran to the south side of the freeway, jumping the center divider and forcing traffic to swerve around them. Shortly afterward, they surrendered to officers. Two other suspects were taken into custody from the disabled car.Related Articles
