The International Bridge Administration reported that one-way traffic crossings of the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie reached 69,698 in September 2022.
In total, 439,144 vehicles have crossed the bridge for the calendar year to-date on Sept. 30; the difference in crossings between 2022 and 2021 is 47,551, IBA said in the release. The International Bridge Administration today announced that one-way traffic crossings of the International Bridge at Sault Ste. Marie totaled 69,698 for the month of September 2022. Traffic for the calendar year to-date on Sept. 30, 2022, is 439,144. This represents a year-to-date increase of 230.
This difference in crossings comparing 2022 to 2021 is 47,551 which represents an increase of 214.7 per cent for the month of September.The change in traffic comparing 2022 to pre-pandemic crossings in 2019 for September, overall traffic has decreased 43.2 per cent. The International Bridge funds operational costs with toll revenue, including the bridge structure, maintenance facilities, the Bridge Authority toll plaza, and building maintenance.
