Sue Baker dead – former Top Gear presenter dies after motor neurone disease battle

The TV star, who appeared on the show for more than a decade, passed away at home "with family around her", a statement released on Monday said.

"A doting mother to Ian and Hannah, a loving grandmother to Tom and George, a wonderful mother-in-law to Lucy. She passed at home this morning with family around her." It continued: "[She] did it all with such grace that she was admired and respected by all who knew her. We know she meant so much to so many.Sue was a presenter on the original format of Top Gear from series four in 1980 and appeared in over 107 episodes until series 25 in 1991.The Guild of Motoring Writers said: "We are deeply saddened to learn our vice-president and former chair, @carscribe Sue Baker, passed away this morning following a long illness.

A different account said: "What a shame! A truly lovely lady, a fabulous writer and a great presenter. RIP" with a heart emoji.
