The recall includes 2023 Model 3 vehicles and 2020-23 Model Y vehicles - a total of 321,628 vehicles.the recall was issued because the risk of a crash is heightened if the taillights don’t work. Tesla has released an over-the-air software update, free of charge. Owners are expected to be notified by letters to be mailed on Jan. 14, 2023.

Tesla said the issue is “a firmware anomaly that may cause false fault detections during the vehicle wake up process.
