Powerful transportation planning czar pushing for per-mile fees on drivers says he may leave San Diego region if elected officials can’t agree on transformative vision for public transit
“An apartment building has much lower energy and water use than a detached single-family house,” said Juan Matute, deputy director of UCLA’s Institute of Transportation Studies. “Buildings are going to get cleaner, but the state is counting on substantial reductions in energy use to accommodate electric vehicles.”
Even with more densely packed housing, the state projects that electricity demand will nearly double by 2045, as vehicles and home appliances switch over from fossil fuels. That’s also when the state aims to zero out its carbon footprint.

Never, electric cars still cause traffic just like regular cars.
Of course not, wtf is wrong with you?
You can’t out-drive traffic - you *are* traffic. Internal combustion aside, electric vehicles will still be contributors to GHG emissions and heavy particulates in the air and run-off in any communities near streets and highways. The solution is less people in personal cars.
Need gas car to go more miles EV only works in smaller town.
