Electric vehicles don’t run on electricity so much as they run on government subsidies.

In Canada, this includes federal and provincial subsidies for consumers to buy electric vehicles and federal and provincial subsidies to EV manufacturers to build assembly and EV battery plants here.As the Canadian national soccer teams head to their respective FIFA World Cups, Derek Van Diest is on the scene to cover all the action. Expect expert insights and analysis in your inbox daily throughout the tournaments, and weekly on Thursdays for the rest of the season.

To be clear, our governments were subsidizing the manufacture of internal combustion engine cars and trucks long before EVs entered the market. Governments are also subsidizing the build out of EV charging stations across Canada and planning to upgrade and retrofit electricity grids to meet the increased demand for electricity.

What taxpayers should be aware of is that subsidization of the EV industry here will involve huge costs, which are only going to increase.

Oil and gas doesn’t?

Not unlike gasoline vehicles. The factories are subsidized, so is R & D. The oil & gas industry is heavily subsidized. Federally, 18 billion/yr. Provincially, BC AB Sask & NL subsidize oil & gas 2.5 billion/yr. Here in Ottawa, the City gave a Porsche dealership a 2.9m tax break.

So do gasoline vehicles.

Poorly written article that attempts to imply a scam, while at the same time inadvertently describing how the government helps industries get off the ground so that they can path towards becoming self sustaining 🤷🏼‍♂️ ShittyJournalism

Oil and gas corporations run on subsidies as well. How about taking them carbon polluters and giving those funds to green energy?

Remember when the Ontario liberals bought into the idea of subsidizing hydro rates for solar and wind projects We now have some of the highest electricity rates in North America and business's can't compete....

Oh Infowars North

COUNTERPOINT: So do billionaires

They also run on globalist hopes and dreams that are not possible.

Good, just like oil…

Cut the subsidies and see how many will buy them

If you put on top of that the fact that the users don’t pay any road tax for the infrastructure they use, it’s a total scam!

The Toronto Sun runs on subsidies. Your owners, Postmedia News, took $37 million in taxpayer funded subsidies last year. All that so you could publish page 3 girly pics and pimp the convoy. What a trash heap your paper is. Embarrassing.

For 2022 alone. Oil and Gas Corps get subsidies, too

Wait till you hear about the oil and gas industry lmao

90 percent of a battery powered vehicle are made by fossil fuels.
