PETALING JAYA: Weekend travel is now the “new normal”, with the average daily number of vehicles on the road increasing to 1.8 million this year, compared to about 1.6 million in 2019.

PLUS Malaysia Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said an average daily number of over 1.8 million vehicles was also recorded for the whole of this week with the start of the school holidays.

“This week, the average daily number of vehicles increased slightly to more than 1.8 million,” he said in an interview. He advised road users to check PLUS’ Twitter account for updates or the PLUS app, which would allow them to identify areas with congestion.“We also have our PLUS app with access to closed-circuit cameras along key stretches of the highway.

“It is highly recommended to make regular pit stops at our rest and recreation areas or lay-bys to stretch, take a break and have some tasty meal,” he said.
