And no parking/charging spots coz ireland has weak planning leaders.

Its a money making scam again forgetting about the real problem, industrial and farm pollution, the whole lack of waste mangement, everything turns into a money spinner, its all a load of bollocks, nobody is willing to go vegan - that is the big one. And nobody cares it seems.

Is that the percentage of middle class people in the county then? Now electric cars are slightly better environmentally if you have enough charging points and enough money to buy one - but as it stands no way wud i buy one as a reliable mode of transport - so far its a disaster

My ribs hurt

Electric cars are the most environmentally damaging forms of transport.

'Electric or plug-in electric'. Can anyone in speak English?

55% …

They are not electric they are battery operated

Remember how the Greens encouraged us to buy diesel cars on 2008. I'll decide for myself thanks greenparty_ie

This is the way

Electric or plug-in electric? Where are these electric cars that don't need to be plugged in?

with the cost of electricity going through the roof 👆 The 'real world' range of these vehicles, in a climate like Ireland's.....is in some cases only half of the advertised WLTP range. They are also about 20% - 25% more expensive than the ICE equivalent vehicle.

Guess I be in the 45% gang

Ireland could be world leaders in EV adoption given its size. But the exchequer wouldn’t want that and the Greens did a U turn from promising a million EV’s by 2030 to slashing 1 in 5 cars by then. Even a zero emission car (through production) wouldn’t satisfy them.

What estimates have they made in the past, and we’re they accurate!!

Can’t afford one and even if I could where do you charge them. I’ll stick to my diesel car for the time being

Not if the extortionate BIK rates are applied

Where is all this electricity coming from. When the energy grid relies solely on renewables, sun and wind which are not constant we will have blackouts. No electricity no charging cars.Time to get the bicycle out and start peddling. Is that not the goal of these green fascists.

The government needs to look at countries like Norway that have massive adoption (over 65%). There they provide incentives - no tax, reduced or no road tolls/parking fees. Yes there'll be a hit on government income but increases in tax on non-EVs can recoup some of that.

With no electricity to charge them! Unless of course the government pulls a miracle out of their arse and increases the electricity supply to support demand!

more lies. No chance

Q. Where do we get all the Lithium for these batteries? (This is not sourced ethically at the moment and the industry is only extracting a single digit % of what would be needed)? Q. How do you recycle all these batteries (as all batteries have a limited recharge capacity)?

Maybe ESB should install some more 150kw chargers so apartment dwellers can find somewhere to charge each week

Electric nowhere to plug them in cars
