More U.S. consumers want to buy an electric vehicle (EV) but are concerned about rising prices, while fewer aimed to purchase gasoline-powered vehicles, a survey by consulting firm Deloitte showed on Wednesday.

Despite the pricing pinch, the intent to purchase an EV is up 3 percentage points year-over-year in the United States, with an identical increase recorded for hybrid electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, Deloitte said in its "2023 Global Automotive Consumer Study". Internal combustion engine purchase intent dropped to 62% from 68%.

"Although historically high transaction prices are a significant challenge for consumers, a strong desire to reduce refueling costs is driving EV purchase intent around the world," Deloitte LLP vice chair and U.S. automotive leader Karen Bowman said. The survey also showed that 30% of U.S. consumers do not trust anyone with the data from their vehicles, signaling a significant challenge for manufacturers looking to further monetize the mobility experience.

Globally, consumers would rather pay for connected technologies upfront as part of the vehicle's transaction price or per use, compared with a subscription plan, the study said.

Here are some problems I see as an EV buyer even after the IRA and other new changes to EV credits were rolled out. 1.) EV prices are about 2X-3X gas vehicles 2.) Those families who make 220k-250k in combined incomes do not get any EV tax credit. So, tell me who will buy EV ?

Has anyone seen my family pictures that were stolen from my apartment

They actually don’t!

When the same people that want EVs are anti mining, resulting in under investment into raw materials to build a green economy… it leads to further supply deficits and higher competition for limited resources. Prices therefore go up. 🚀

They want to buy more because you keep telling them to. Start educating instead of pushing agendas

Immagino che tutti bramino una tesla che gli prenda fuoco sotto il culo mentre viaggiano verdi.

🤡🤡🤡🤡

I want a cyber truck

All the vendors introduce new products to the market not for the convenience of the customers but to make a profit. They will reduce it when they realize that they can sell more vehicles at a lower price rather than making a big profit from one. just like Twitter Blue Dot😊

Cobalt will increase in price after a new book is released on how bad ppl of the Congo are treated. Telsa is taking steps to get clean cobalt without slave labor.

And my next electric vehicle will not be a Tesla.

And also the control government will have over your life. Charging times. Lack of infrastructure. Lack of ability to travel due to temperatures. The list goes on and on

No we don’t! If you look at the slave labor used and the limited resources for minerals mined for batteries, it’s a no brainer

Duh… just wait until destroy the manufacturing capability of internal combustion…

I feel like we did not need Deloitte’s help to arrive at this conclusion

Invest in cobalt. With the return on investments, one can buy a tesla. As long as you ignore the ethical dilemas.

Just wait a few years when the battery needs replacing ….

No. US citizens do not want EV’s. Propaganda article

It's not just rising prices. Charging stations are inadequate. The price of one KWH in California during summer is 49 cents. PG&E says prices are going up another 13%. People can't pay that PLUS a $1000+ car payment.

Buy Polestar $PSNY

What a brilliant insight! Why has no one else thought of this?! 🤔

No…they really don’t want them.

CobaltRed

Man, I could have told you that for 1/10 of what those Deloitte geniuses charged.

Funny, in all my travels and working with clients I’ve never met anyone who wanted an EV. Most of the ones I see are owned by vloggers!

. Tesla fake sales... Listed for private second hand sale below new price with 100km... . .

Bullshit

Fake news....

No, they don't You're just trying to subliminally implant it in their heads that they do 🤷🏽‍♂️😒

Charger ports should be a concern.

Basically EV are very expensive, not very good at what they do and require humongous amounts of fossil fuel mining (lithium and much else) not to mention trade miles in diesel powered ships. Largely a terrible idea kept afloat by the free world’s tax regimes.

I want a Tesla

Sorry I don’t want one.

bc there’s no competition…yet. honda will start rolling out their ev lineup in a couple years 🤞

Not in the real world they don't

Wallah, everything is expensive nowdays
