"The government just turns a blind eye, and I should say both major parties, turn a blind eye to the use of cars by people," he says.
"that means that the traffic getting from one region to another – all those people from the south that are trying to get over the Tasman Bridge to get to the airport or other facilities on the eastern shore, and vice versa – are all increasing all the time" he added."Public transport is not an answer to road congestion … it cannot meet modern travel patterns."
Ms McIntyre says the technology will help assist people stuck in traffic understand what's going on in real time if they're caught in a jam. But Jason Byrne, professor of human geography and planning at the University of Tasmania, says the problem isn't necessarily because of poor city planning or lack of transport infrastructure, rather it's a behavioural issue.
"I look forward to advice from crash investigators as to the cause of the crash and want to applaud Tasmania Police and my Department of State Growth staff for the rapid response to keep the disruption as short as possible," he said.
A new Bridge is for the trucks ,, 🙄 Build more rail to get the trucks off the road 😉
A public transport bridge
Bridge
More trains to take the bloody stuff
Another bridge
Better drivers and better maintenance on vehicles. One traffic jam a year, a new bridge , they will want the federal government to pay for it, Jackie and the other guys will want the government to pay when they pass legislation. Remember population of TAS is less then the GC.
Just move it closer to Australia👌
It was a one off ! Such a big hoo-ha!
Needs a stadium according to the Tasmanian Liberals.
No, better drivers... Yes, both of you!
Right so the president of the car dependency fan club has declared that car dependency is the problem. Cities all over the world are currently spending a lot of money to undo the damage that people like Bob have caused.
Another bridge is a must for cars, trucks, buses used as public transport.
Tunnel
They need a new football stadium 🤣🤣
Public transport that works including restoration of the rail network to electric
What it doesn’t need is a new stadium. If the state is to grow as expected then this gov should get cracking on infrastructure and future proof plans to inform all Tasmanians how we will cope with increasing society demands. It’s a state small enough to achieve this.
