It looks like Mazda understands the MX-30's shortcomings and is addressing it in the form of a hybrid with a unique approach to address range. Technically, when running on pure battery power the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV has just over half the range of the BEV MX-30, but that is where a small displacement rotary comes in.

I feel like this EV craze is driving full speed into a stone wall of reality. It takes a minimum of 20 years to bring a major power station online, but the current rate of EV production will exhaust that capacity in just a few months. California already can not meet EV demands.
The rotary sadly isn’t the motor, it’s essentially an alternator or range extender
