The program would capitalize on 37,000 square feet of city-owned land that backs up to I-405.

VIDEO: Bellevue creating 'safe parking lot' for homeless near Lincoln CenterBELLEVUE, Wash. — The city of Bellevue is investing $450,000 in a new “safe parking lot program” for people living out of their cars.Bellevue’s Homeless Outreach Manager, Nico Quijano, says the property is ideal for several reasons.

“Having a bus line nearby, nearby services, a surrounding community, grocery stores, all the things a person would need to be connected are essential for getting people on the right track, which is why this location will work for us,” said Quijano.A shelter is already operating on the property and houses roughly 150 men. Those living there will soon be relocated to a larger transitional facility under construction in the Eastgate neighborhood.

Once they do, the city will use one of the buildings for the pilot program. Those staying in the lot will be able to access showers, laundry and small kitchens there. “We’ll give folks the opportunity they need to start branching out and thinking about what comes next,” said Quijano.

This is a speed track to hell with an entirely predictable result. Don’t do it!

It’s enablement. Pretty much saying, stay homeless, it’s okay.

That should go as predicted.

The program sounds interesting, but how is safety guaranteed?

Its a positive step!

Man I can’t imagine this working out.
