A mileage tax would charge all vehicles, thus replacing a failing, regressive tax and providing the money needed to maintain our roads.

That's a regressive tax (like sales tax) and would hurt low and middle class workers much more than the upper class. Considering the commutes required for many lower wage jobs that the upper classes benefit from, I see this as a disgusting tax idea.

Not big on giving our local or State politicians more money to waste and I’m skeptical that the money raised by a mileage tax would actually go to roads. However, why not increase the annual registration fees for electric vehicles to offset the losses at the pump.
Every few years we hear this song and dance! As recently as the new gas tax measure! I STILL bad roads and now the HIGHEST gas prices in the lower 48! Not just no but HELL NO!! Stop giving these people free money
Increase the tourism taxes like the hotel tax, tax on short-term rentals, tax on convention center.. people will keep coming to the beaches, especially after the COVID years of travel build-up

This is disengenious at best. Our 'roads' have already 'been paid for'. It is the siphoning of funds for flawed public transit projects that are lucrative for politicians and lobbyists that this tax is aimed at. It is 'sold' as an attempt to 'encourage' public transit use.
Our home sales tax 8000 a hear and my own street don’t get repaired. Hell with SANDAG. feel free to DM to show you the scams contractors doing to the street. Spring Valley prime example.
