Digital and paper motor vehicle registrations will now be issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.

signed into law by Gov. Phil Murphy in November 2021 to offer drivers a digital proof their vehicle is registered. Under the law, drivers can still request a paper registration.if issued a summons for failure to have the document in their possession and show it during a police road stop as long as they can produce a digital or paper copy.

Between dispatch and the computer in mostly every police car, police know if your registration is valid or not. The whole idea of showing a flimsy piece of paper demonstrates the antiquated nature of gov’t! But for NJ, this is a GIANT step towards progress! Amazing NJ!
