No injuries were reported in the incident that is believed to have occurred at about 8am following a slight drizzle.
Labuan Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ardillah Supardi said continuous heavy downpour and strong winds whipped across the duty-free-island since early morning, uprooting trees in several areas on the island."When we arrived at the scene, the uprooted tree had landed on several cars that were parked in front of a shoplot in the town centre...clearance work was done immediately,” he told Bernama when contacted.
"I consider myself quite lucky. If the tree had fallen sideways, I could have been hit. Thankfully, only the cars were damaged and no one was hurt,” he said. - Bernama
