B.C. Ferries added more than 180 extra sailings on major routes to accommodate an expected 400,000 passengers and 160,000 vehicles between Thursday and Monday on the busy Easter long weekend.

B.C. Ferries is warning that several Saturday sailings on the Salish Eagle risk cancellation because of crew shortages.

Lack of crew on the Kuper vessel has led B.C. Ferries to cancel its Saturday evening sailings starting with the 6 p.m. departure out of Thetis Island. Earlier sailings on the route are expected to go ahead.The cancellations on the busy Easter weekend come as the ferry service added more than 180 extra sailings on major routes to accommodate an expected 400,000 passengers and 160,000 vehicles between Thursday and Monday.
