in August 2019 due to an isolated case of a Carrera GT experiencing broken spherical joints. Over the following year, Porsche analyzed 20 other Carrera GT models and did not detect any issue, not even for vehicles driven in areas with road salt. However, after more cars and parts were analyzed from other markets around the world through 2021 and early 2022, Porsche found that the joints did not have enough corrosion resistance.
It then conducted driving tests and simulations to confirm the fault and issued theA total of 489 Porsche Carrera GT models built between December 19, 2003 and October 27, 2005 are being recalled. Owners will be notified by June 2. The unavailability of replacement parts means Porsche will inspect the spherical joints of impacted models and if this inspection shows no signs of abnormality, vehicles will be returned to customers.
