Homeless advocate Michael McConnell (HomelessnessSD) is concerned that San Diego Police will again enforce ban on homeless sleeping in vehicles. 'It's just a shell game the city is playing, moving people around.'

SAN DIEGO – A myriad of new complaints has resulted in the San Diego Police Department announcing that they will return to enforcing the ordinance banning homeless people from sleeping their vehicles.

The ban was originally approved back in 2019, but was temporarily lifted during the coronavirus pandemic. Homeless advocate Michael McConnell is concerned about the city’s decision to instruct police to return to enforcing this ban, as he doesn’t believe it will assist with our homeless crisis. McConnel joined KUSI’s Paul Rudy on Good Morning San Diego to explain why he doesn’t think enforcing this ban will help our homeless crisis.

He explained it’s just a “shell game” that the city plays, where they move people around, and ticket violators over and over.

HomelessnessSD Democrat hypocrisy.

HomelessnessSD Don’t care - arrest and mandatory rehab period

HomelessnessSD How about showing the residents of the areas point of view. When does our rights as property owners come into play. We had a murder in the homeless camp in our neighborhood

HomelessnessSD South Mission Beach & bay parking lots have many vans, cars, RVs that park for weeks or years! Who wouldn’t want to have ocean and bay views for free!?! These people aren’t “families” but they’re addicted to drugs, alcohol (or both) and know they can do this!

HomelessnessSD My car was towed and I was a student at miracosta college. I had multiple surgeries and couldn’t pay for registration but I was trying to continue my education and be a good person all while I was living out my car. Police target students who park on campus ticket

HomelessnessSD 100% . So happy is giving you a platform to speak HomelessnessSD 👏🏽🤙🏽🙏🏽

HomelessnessSD There’s no Homelessness in San Diego , what we got is a bunch of Drug addicts, alcoholics abusing the system. They get 3 meals a day , their drug of choice for free without reprimand. I got a better solution, either get clean or leave my city. No more living on the streets

HomelessnessSD Your assessment is on point.

HomelessnessSD Get them out of the neighborhoods like the one in Mission Valley. Put them in MTS parking Lots for employees. MTS employ can take the bus. And show everybody how it’s done.

HomelessnessSD Go camp in El Centro. Lots of room.

HomelessnessSD Stop giving this fraud airtime. He’s a millionaire who spent $300k of his own money to deprive the homeless of resources to help get them off the street. He’d rather people be left to die alone on the street chained to their addiction then be forced to get help and treatment.

HomelessnessSD why not ask Michael about today's homeless rally that didn't include actual homeless? Does he and the rest of homeless advocates even speak for homeless?

HomelessnessSD Why do they always look like this?

HomelessnessSD kusinews not once you challenged Michael's gaslighting with a simple question. For examples: Are those cars registered & insured? Are they operated by someone who is sober? Are vehicles road worthy and passed smog? Why owners choosing to park on busy city streets?

HomelessnessSD Why all these buildings?, and who can afford to live in them? They are everywhere. The cost of living is sky high in SD. I believe they are pushing out the poor.

HomelessnessSD So he decided that chin hair look was the way to go?

HomelessnessSD Well I live here,I am no longer 'concerned' sdpd will enforce a damn thing The 4 officers left on shift in each division are not getting out of their cars, just to get 12 phones shoved in their faces and cut loose by their management

HomelessnessSD There is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping in a car since no one is affected but the sleeping person. Sleeping on the sidewalk, in a park, on the side of a freeway, etc., is unsafe and affects others, so no.

HomelessnessSD We must DEFUND the police and FUND community programs if we truly want to reduce crime and homelessness.

HomelessnessSD Problem dates back to massive mortgage fraud a decade ago...exacerbated by lockdowns Focus, ny and ca

HomelessnessSD I am here at city hall. These fraud homeless gatekeepers need to Get Out.

HomelessnessSD That's it ! I'm buying a tent , quitting my job and gonna get high every day until Todd Gloria ans Gavin Newsome give me some free housing !!!

HomelessnessSD Stop giving this kook a platform

HomelessnessSD Red Forman sure looks different now.

HomelessnessSD Why do you continue to go to this huy for anything. He is a huckster for the Billion Dollar woe is me industry. Interview a business owner , police officer, first responder, trauma center or ER doc or nurse, baseball fan, anyone who goes downtown about untended behaviors , trash,

HomelessnessSD MayorToddGloria CMWhitburnD3 has ruined San Diego we are not the 'Finest City of America' With their lack of effort and 'out of sight out of mind' ideology. WE NEED TO INITIATE THE FIRST EVER LIVED EXPERIENCE HOMELESS COMMITTEE shaneharrisnow pajmovement

HomelessnessSD They already are. We used to get raggedy trailers and RVs parked in our neighborhood with people living in them. We’d call the city / police would do nothing. Now, police have been actively patrolling and towing. They said it was because covid rules expired.

HomelessnessSD I agree with his core argument but he isn’t good about expressing it. The city just shuffles the homeless around and does nothing to actually fix the problem.

HomelessnessSD Overwhelming mentally ill, drug and alcohol addicted younger men. Get them off the streets and into MANDATED CARE. You don’t have a “civil right” to piss and do drugs on our streets. period

HomelessnessSD Keep on going and you'll look like san francisco

HomelessnessSD

HomelessnessSD I’m concerned his chin hair will get caught in a button 🤭

HomelessnessSD How bout move them to his house

HomelessnessSD Doesn't the city tell the police what to do?
