Oba Ogunoye said, “Last year, we experienced what we had never experienced before. The attackers ran away, but we heard some culprits had been arrested. There is lack of mobility for the Nigeria police in Owo. Before the attack, I was aware of the problem.
“I made a request to our sons and daughters about the problem. I requested for two vehicles, but they brought four to enhance security around here. We believe the vehicles would be put to good use. I believe this will go a long way in curbing crimes and criminal activities around Owo.” In his remarks, a former President of the World Council of Owo Association in the United States of America, Mr Idris Adenishin, said the association responded to the request by the monarch to support security operations in Owo.
“We knew about the security challenges the police have been having in Owo, especially the non-availability of vehicles. This is a laudable gesture by the Owo indigenes to the Police in order to ensure safety and protection of the people. Govt alone can not do it alone regarding the provisions of security apparatus b'cos stakeholders &indigenes need to support them to ensure tranquility in d state.
