A whisky that was selected specifically by the late Doddie Weir sold out within 20 minutes of going up for sale on Wednesday, with all profits going to charity.
AD/06:17, which was distilled and bottled by Ardnamurchan Distillery, has been in development since June 2017. It was chosen from a single ex-Oloroso Sherry cask for the Scottish rugby legend, who passed away shortly after his visit to Glenbeg on November 26, 2022 to select the final cask, after six years of living with MND.
"There is huge momentum in MND research at the moment, supported by the launch of our five-year research strategy this week." Thompson added: "We’re extremely grateful to everyone who made this launch possible; Ardnamurchan Distillery, Royal Mile Whiskies and most importantly, everyone who purchased a bottle. They will deservedly enjoy a dram in Doddie’s honour.”
