Boasting a thrilling 33-inch LED display and Cadillac-exclusive AKG Audio 19-speaker sound system, the Lyriq’s interior is exactly what you’d expect from the American luxury brand. Soft, supple seats; an upscale cabin; and capable of up to 9K resolution on its displays make it particularly impressive. The drawback? An only-26-colour ambient lighting system, optional, where as nearly everyone else has 64.
The trouble here is if the mechanism to turn the gear selector breaks, you’re stuck. Well, at least you’re stuck in luxurious seats and a minimalist-yet-upscale cabin.Kia, thanks to shared resources from siblings Hyundai and Genesis, is encroaching on Mazda’s premium-but-not-luxury-but-damn-close territory, and the all-new Sportage Hybrid proves it. With a massive screen covering the instrument cluster and infotainment duties, there’s still a high ease of use, here.
Minus five points for it being potentially difficult to see the entire instrument cluster if the steering wheel is positioned too low.
