Police had responded to multiple domestic incidents prior to her filing for the restraining order, including accusations of threats that made Servin leave their home and Ferguson changing locks in their home after taking their 2-year-old son.“Tony Ferguson is a good husband and good father to our son,” Servin said in a 2019 statement.

Ferguson won the lightweight title with a submission victory over Kevin Lee in 2017, but was stripped of his belt shortly afterwards after being unable to fight due to an injury. He lost by TKO to Justin Gaethje in 2019 in a bid to reclaim his lightweight title, starting his recent string of losses.
