A teenage motorist who reached speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone before he crashed a hatchback into the wall of a children's nursery has been spared jail.
After the crash, he ran away from the scene but was tracked down and arrested after officers analysed CCTV cameras and the car he was driving.Footage being recorded on board the Auris he was driving on a dash-cam was also released and showed the moment of impact. The car ploughs up the pavement then over a flowerbed into a fence and wall of the nursery.At a sentencing hearing at Burnley Crown Court, he was jailed for six months, suspended for 18 months, and banned from the road.
A force spokesman said: "The Auris sped off and reached speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone, overtaking other vehicles.
