NCC's 'bike days' and parkway closures to vehicles begin this weekend in Ottawa

From May 13 to Oct. 9, both westbound lanes of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, from Vimy Place to Carling Avenue, and both lanes of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway between the Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard in Orléans, will be reserved for “active use” at certain times on weekends and holiday Mondays.

Both lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway between Fifth Avenue and Somerset Street will also be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 13 to June 25. The annual Tulip Festival begins May 12 at Commissioners park near Dow’s Lake. Closing a portion of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway to motorized vehicles began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
