LEZ - for buses - was introduced at the end of 2018.Glasgow City Council believes that by effectively excluding the most polluting vehicles from the centre, it will help protect public health by tackling"unacceptably high levels of harmful air pollution that have long persisted in the zone area".Glasgow’s LEZ will operate continuously, all year round.
Petrol cars and vans will need to have engines at the Euro 4 standard, which generally applies to vehicles registered after 2006. ANPR cameras linked to a national vehicle licencing database will be used to enforce the scheme. When a non-compliant vehicle is detected in the zone, a Penalty Charge Notice will be issued to the registered keeper.
